This project was particularly challenging due to the desert location with limited water access. The client who was a Saudi Prince requested the firm after staying in one of our previously designed lodges on the hills of Mount Kenya. The brief was loaded with exciting challenges and the aim was for the prince to have an African inspired lodge in his home country. Water is pumped up from subterranean rivers to sustain the animals and the resort. Materials required to build an authentic lodge were brought in from Africa, together with the craftsmen who possessed the skills to implement this project. At the time of completion, the main building was the largest thatch roofed structure ever created.
