This project formed part of a film set which was later turned into a hotel. The hotel closed during the Covid period and the client, along with KZN tourism, planned to seize the opportunity to upgrade the facility. The brief was to modernise the traditional beehive huts and in doing so create a contrast between the traditional village and the hotel. The modernisation of the hotel was also intended to emphasise the traditional aspects of the village. This proposal aimed to achieve this through increasing the natural light with the introduction of glass and creating a transition between the inside and outside with pergolas.
