The Oysters comprises 4 medium and high rise residential apartment buildings located in the grounds of the well-known Oyster Box Hotel. The complex consists of 133 apartments, and was a response to the increased demand for residential property in Umhlanga during the mid-2000’s. 

A balance was required between contemporary apartments and the 1950’s reinforced concrete form of the existing hotel. The brief was to minimise the impact of the building on the site in order to preserve much of the indigenous coastal forest at that time while elevating the apartments to enjoy virtually uninterrupted sea views.
