Laboratory & Research

FGG Architects has been involved in the design and implementation of numerous laboratory facilities across Durban, KwaZulu-Natal and internationally.

As specialist laboratory design consultants, projects include high containment, Biosaftey Level 3 (BSL3) and cleanroom laboratories.

Most recently FGG Architects was the Principal Agent and Architect for the award winning K-RITH Tower building at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Medical School Campus. With state-of-the-art facilities for the study of HIV and TB, the building has enticed top researchers and academics from around the world to conduct their studies in Durban. K-RITH is a joint venture between UKZN and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) based in the USA.

Along with the laboratory design within various larger medical projects, such as those at Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, FGG has designed facilities for the SA Medical Research Council, the Department of Health, HHMI, the Government of Mauritus and CAPRISA.
